THERE WILL BE A LIGHT
THERE WILL BE A LIGHT
I completed my undergraduate Arts degree with Honours in Psychology at the University of QLD (UQ) and then went on to complete a Doctorate in Psychology (Clinical) at UQ along with numerous other training programs, including Triple P (Positive Parenting Program) and non-directive perinatal counselling training.
Over the last 18 years I have worked in private practice in a variety of locations across QLD, NSW and the UK. In my early career I also worked in school and hospital settings and travelled the UK training Triple P Providers, but found that I most enjoyed working in private practice, as I feel it allows me more freedom of working with clients in a meaningful and individualised way.
When not at work, I spend time enjoying (and juggling the demands of) life with my family and friends, focusing on raising my three children who are twelve, ten and eight and each a wonderful force of nature in their own ways! I love a long bush-walk, time at the beach, losing myself in a book, enjoying good food and family movie nights.
I believe in the scientist-practitioner model, using a strong grounding in evidence-based practices and theory, but formulating and really gaining an understanding of an individual’s circumstances and background to guide my treatment with clients in and individualised way.
Although predominantly trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), I take an eclectic approach to therapy depending on what the unique needs of the client are and I integrate approaches from other modalities including:
I am a member of the Australian Psychological Society and I'm registered as a Clinical Psychologist with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency).
