Linda Anderson - Child and Youth Psychology

My Background

I have worked with children, teenagers and families in a range of settings, including primary and high schools, NGOs and mental health settings for over 20 years. I am passionate about helping young people feel heard and valued for the amazing humans they are. I am in awe of the young people I work with every day. I am committed to working with the whole family to understand the emotions and challenges each member of the family faces during life’s ups and downs.

I am passionate about seeing the world, which has meant I have enjoyed travelling to over 70 countries, living and working in Morocco, India, Kuwait and the UK. A formative time in my life was when I spent 6 months volunteering in a Moroccan boarding house for girls. I have two busy children whom I love dearly and a therapy dog, Hugo. He is a very good boy who attends the clinic now and again.

Clinical Approach

My therapy involves getting to know you and figuring out how we can best work together towards your goals. I am warm, empathic and supportive.

I use an integrative approach to psychology, drawing on the principles of:

· relational psychodynamic therapy

· schema therapy

· dialectical behaviour therapy

· trauma-informed therapies

· compassion-focused therapy

· acceptance and commitment therapy

· circle of security

· animal-assisted therapy

I can provide support for neurodivergent individuals so they can thrive amidst the demands of the world. I can conduct psychological assessments to help people discover more about their inner world.

I enjoy providing parenting support and family therapy for all stages of the parenting journey. I take a Circle of Security informed approach to working with families as they seek to understand relational patterns. A six-month term at Catherine’s House at the Mater confirmed that I also adore the ‘awwwwwww’ factor of working with new parents
